Embracing Tranquility Houses by a Park

Crafting a Quiet Presence

STUDIO MOTLEY’s Houses by a Park project, situated in Bangalore opposite a sprawling neighborhood park, comprises four residences, one designated as the client’s personal abode while the others are intended for rental purposes. Rooted in the desire to instill a serene ambiance along the street, the design aims to evoke a nostalgic charm reminiscent of Bangalore’s bygone era as a verdant garden city renowned for its leisurely pace of life.

Embodying Connectivity with Nature

Drawing inspiration from its verdant surroundings, the houses boast expansive terraces that seamlessly integrate each unit with the verdant landscape, offering unobstructed vistas of the adjacent park. The second floor extends this connection further with a generous twenty-foot cantilevered roof, effectively transforming the terrace into an extension of the park itself, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

Echoes of Tradition

Clad in Sadarahalli stone, a locally sourced granite known for its rustic texture, the building pays homage to Bangalore’s architectural heritage, echoing the aesthetic of the city’s older structures. The façade is adorned with an operable screen crafted from laminated bamboo, strategically positioned to ensure privacy within the bedrooms while allowing ample natural light and ventilation.

Harmonizing Modernity and Nostalgia

By marrying contemporary design elements with nostalgic undertones, Houses by a Park encapsulates a harmonious blend of modern living and traditional aesthetics. The seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, coupled with the thoughtful choice of materials, serves to create a tranquil oasis amidst Bangalore’s bustling urban landscape.

In essence, STUDIO MOTLEY’s Houses by a Park project stands as a testament to the enduring allure of Bangalore’s garden city ethos, offering residents a sanctuary where they can reconnect with nature while basking in the city’s rich architectural heritage.
